Puppy Dog Baby Costume

Things you'll need:

  • Black marker, glue and scissors
  • White full-sleeved shirt (ideally skin-tight)
  • White tights (or trousers)
  • White P-cap (baseball cap)
  • Black and white felt
  • Optional: 2 black buttons and 1 small black pom-pom (If you can't manage these, don't worry; you can always use a marker instead)

How to make it:

  1. Using the black marker, draw spots on the shirt and tights.
  2. Cut two white and two black (identical) ears from the felt. (You can first cut a sample ear using an old newspaper or cardboard and then use it as a stencil to cut the actual felt ears.)
  3. Using the glue, stick the ears on the cap.
  4. Stick identical black buttons at the place of eyes and a small black pom-pom for nose. For newborn Halloween costumes, draw the eyes and nose instead of sticking the buttons to make it safe for your baby.

Your homemade baby Halloween costume is ready! *woof woof*

Baby Octopus Halloween Costume:

  • A (plain) hat and two little pom-poms to make eyes

How to make it:

  1. Stuff the three tights with stuffing (old socks, soft cloth, cotton, etc.) and attach them on the waist-band. Make the baby wear the fourth pair to complete his/her 8 legs.
  2. On the hat, make eyes using either a rolled fabric (you can take it out from the top of the stuffed tights) or make them by marking dots in the center of the white pompoms.
  3. Your easy homemade baby Halloween costume is ready!

Kermit the Frog Halloween Costume:

Things you'll need:

  • 2 white pompoms (or ideally ping-pong balls to make eyes)
  • Green bodysuit (ideally one size bigger) with hood

How to make it:

  1. Cut 6-8 identical triangles from the felt. You can first cut a sample triangle using an old newspaper or cardboard and then use it as a stencil to cut the actual felt triangles.
  2. Using glue, stick these triangles in the form of a garland around the neck of the bodysuit, as you can see in the picture.
  3. For eyes, mark black dots using the marker in the center of the white pompoms. You can use ping-pong balls or stick black buttons to make eyeballs - whatever your imagination and availability of things allow you to do.

Other Baby Costume Ideas

Newborn Halloween Costumes: For newborns, food can be the best inspiration as a Halloween idea - primarily because like food, newborns don't roam around (ideally food should never move!).

If your newborn baby girl or baby boy is just few months old, swaddle him using a beige cloth (to give it the impression of a wrap). On a baby hat, stick food toys like tomatoes, lettuce, etc., (that you may find in the sibling's toy-box); and your yummy baby-wrap is ready for his very first Halloween or Costume party!

P.S. A mustache would look cute if you want to make a newborn costume for a baby boy.

Lion Baby Costume: Take a beige hooded-jacket and a pair of trousers. Buy two mop-heads and stick them together on the hood. Use 2 orange felts to make small ears and also stick them on the hood. Orange or brown socks worn on the shoes would give a cub's foot effect. Your little lion is ready to roar in his impressive baby Halloween costume.
